Adequate water intake is essential to maintaining life
Just as water moves and shapes paths through the land, ask the water to move within you and help you during labor and birth
DURING PREGNANCY IT IS DEEPLY IMPORTANT TO DRINK WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Water intake needs to increase during pregnancy in order to support fetal circulation, amniotic fluid, and a higher blood volume.
Think of all the life that lives in water and is sustained by the 71% of water that encompasses earth. The adult female body is composed of roughly 60% water, and our babies are 75% water. Our mothers water protected us and sustained us to grow, along with her thoughts, emotions, and her nutrients. We are born in our mothers water, when her waters are released back to the earth, we are delivered through it to live our lives in this world.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women are encouraged to increase their intake of water and other fluids to meet their bodies' needs.
Water is a conduit of fluid that transmits energy, and the imprints of life. Water carries a communication of signatures unique to each body, each stream, and each river through the elements of nature. Carrying the identifying marker of who is family and where is home.
A common recommendation for the mother is to drink a glass of water with meals and whenever she breastfeeds.
A fascinating example of this power in nature, is how Salmon can recall back to their places of Birth, from the vast ocean years later. As newly spawned smolt, salmon travel thousands of miles through the streams and rivers to the ocean, to live and grow. When it is their time to return home and spawn new life, they navigate incredible lengths back to the streams they were born in. The signatures in water communicate and help guide the salmon back to where they came from.
"In this same way, water transmits information to our unborn. We are able to express our thoughts and emotions, our hopes for the life growing inside and the babies life once they are born".
It can be helpful to visit with water each day. When you pour a glass of water, take a few moments to speak life into the water before drinking. Convey messages you wish to speak to your baby. Ask the water to comfort and surround your baby in balance and protection. Ask the water to assist the baby to move into an optimal position for labor and birth. Just as water moves and shapes paths through the land, ask water to move within you and help you during labor and birth.
Dehydration during pregnancy can lead to serious pregnancy complications, including neural tube defects, low amniotic fluid, inadequate breast milk production, and even premature labor.
If you have concerns or fears, visit a moving body of water and express your emotions to the water. Allow the water to carry away those emotions and fears. Comfort your spirit, settle the mind, and have faith that each and every woman who come before you found a way. YOU GOT THIS!
